Do Wine Glasses matter? - Part II

Inspired by my post yesterday Mathieu Turbide, who runs the Mechant Raisin blog out of Quebec, wrote Tempête dans un verre de vin, which sheds some further light on the issue. The Ikea solution he proposes is ok but my experience is that the glasses look ungainly after a couple of runs in the dishwasher, especially with the hard water we have here in the Provence. It's definitely not the way to go if you want to upgrade a bit. Admittedly the wine will taste the same but why not enjoy the good things in life if you can?

As I progress on my search for the right wine glass I came across a product called Schott Tritan Crystal Glass. This is supposed to be a no-lead, dishwasher safe and highly resilient crystal glass. I think this product has been around for less than 2 years. Their "top ten" collection is probably the best suited to meet the aroma enhancement, I really don't care so much for their other lines. The glasses are machine made and cost around Euro 12 per glass, more reasonable than the hand blown "Les Impitoyables". I will probably settle for the Schott glasses, not the entire collection but just 3 or 4 types. I will just buy a pack of six mature red wine glasses, test them and then order the rest. This product seems to make sense.

So, Evelyn, did you finally buy the Schott glasses?
And if so, which ones?
My favorite wine accessories boutique here in Montréal just got the “Pure” and the “Top Ten” collections. I think I will try them. But I would love your feedback if you tried them…
Salut!!!
