French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) is the most densely populated départément of the Provence-Côte d'Azur Region. Despite the nowadays mostly urban and suburban character of this region many places are woth a visit: Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Saint Paul de Vence, the perched villages of Èze and Tourrettes sur Loup and the exclusive coast between Villefranche and Menton with the tiny principality of Monaco in between.
The coastal region constitues a contiguous metropolitan area of separately incorporated towns from Nice to Théoule sur Mer southwest of Cannes and expanding inland to Grasse. With a fast growing population it probably has by now close to 1 million inhabitants. If it were officially regarded as a metropolitan area, which it is not, it would be France's 5th largest.
Somewhat surprisingly there are a few hideaway type lodgings. Here is our selection of hotels and Bed and Breakfasts (B&B), some with self-catering vacation rentals.
