Arles, les Alpilles and the Camargue are the most western areas of the Provence; each has its own character. Arles is one of the prime tourist spots in France, very interesting but also very busy. Quite a contrast to the Alpilles, a rugged mountain range between Arles and Avignon. A bucolic restful area with Le Baux and St.Remy de Provence as major attractions. South of Arles we find the Camargue, the flat and marshy Rhône delta, France's cowboy country.
